Tea Leoni To Star In New HBO Fashion Show
If we didn’t know any better, we’d say HBO misses the people who used to tuned in for “Sex and the City.”
Rumor has it that the channel will pick up the pilot for a fashion-focused comedy with a female cast set in New York City. Sound familiar?
The show’s working title is “Spring/Fall,” and actress Tea Leoni is its star and producer. The show’s milieu is New York’s fashion industry, but the drama will come from Leoni’s dysfunctional partnership with another female character who has a much different approach to her life and her job.
So far, it sounds good on paper. Add in that the pilot was written by Kate Robin, who was a writer and producer for HBO’s “Six Feet Under” and you’ve got gold.
Although, we can maybe kinda sorta guess where the show will go. Leoni, who we’ll cast as the well-heeled industry veteran who plays by the rules, will have her world shaken up by some young go getter who has really good ideas about the way a business should be run and how to put on a decent show. They will clash here and there, but eventually they’ll learn things from one another. And by the end of the day, their differences will unite them. Or something.
Anyway, it’s a huge deal for HBO and for Leoni — the actress hasn’t agreed to do television since her comedy series “The Naked Truth” went off NBC in 1998.
