Do These Photos Of Heather Morris Reek Of Domestic Abuse?

Tyler Shields — he of Lindsay Lohan photo fame — has released a new set of pictures starring Glee‘s Heather Morris. And they’re pretty controversial.

Shields definitely has a thing for the Glee girls (remember his shots of short-haired Dianna Agron?), but his pics of Morris have us feeling unsettled. Styled as a ’50s housewife with a black eye, the whole thing seemingly reeks of domestic abuse. Or does it? Check out the photos and let us know what you think.

Domestic violence is not cool, but this has a twinge of ‘housewife revenge’ so I vote not offensive.

Also, it looks like they had fun during the shoot. Perhaps that’s making light of the subject which is bad because we should take domestic violence seriously, but I think it just means we shouldn’t take this shoot too seriously.

I find the heinous pattern and design of the dress more offensive.

It’s supposed to be unsettling, I hope is Verena von Pfetten pretending not to know this. In the photos, the artist is trying to show that a woman of that time was oppressed. She was oppressed by her role as a housewife (noted by the iron). She was also oppressed by physical violence at the hands of her husband I would add that the photographer is saying that a woman of that/ or any time is oppressed by standards of beauty and fashion.

Frankly one has to wonder if Mr Shields was really adroit about exploring domestic violence why he didn’t go the full tilt and add the cuts and bruises and tears and the torn dress. But then again there’s only so much Hollywood can stomach and once the fuss dies out will all go back to yawning as Mr Shield frankly pissed away an opportunity to say something definitive about violence, the plight of women and the fragility of relations and even women who look like Barbie, well especially the ones that look like Barbie.
