Why Is Heidi Klum Having Trouble Finding A New York Apartment?
Even Heidi Klum can’t escape the pitfalls of New York’s real estate rat race. The German supermodel and television host has been looking for a place to stay in New York City this summer, but like most Manhattan apartment hunts, her first try didn’t go off without a hitch.
The New York Post reports that Klum toured three penthouse apartments in the same building in New York’s SoHo neighborhood. All three of the units at 55 Thompson Street have two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and are priced at $15,000, $18,000 and $20,000 per month. The building is really close to Project Runway’s editing offices, and because Klum will need to hover around those offices for about six weeks this summer, she offered $100,000 to rent all three for a six-week period. (She also needs space for her four kids and her husband, Seal.) But the property’s developer turned her money down.
Not because he (she?) has anything against Klum, but because they’re looking for a long-term renter. But we have to ask, what could possibly sweeten the deal on a $20,000-a-month apartment than knowing that Heidi Klum used to set up her hot rollers in its bathroom? Not much. Not much at all.
But we’re sure Klum and the gang will find something soon. If all else fails, maybe they can stay in the third apartment Anna Sui bought the other day.
