This Is What A $100,000 Cellphone Looks Like
If you have the pluck to put a $100,000 cellphone on the market, it doesn’t surprise us that you deem it worthy of a Paris Couture Week debut. Savelli, a new high-technology-meets-artisan-craftmanship purveyor, is introducing what they claim to be the first collection of luxury smartphones designed specifically for women.
“From a design perspective, this was the objective: Creating a completely disruptive design which had nothing in common with any other phone which had ever been designed before,” founder Alessandro Savelli told WWD. “We wanted to create a shape that was feminine, curvaceous, but at the same time extremely modern.”
For one, we’re a little confused by his vision because last time we checked, femininity and curves are already modern (cc: Beyoncé) and The Diamond Rain phone (pictured above) doesn’t appear to be anything to phone home about, especially to the tune of THOUSANDS. The couture cellies are priced from 6,900 euros to 7,500 euros, or $9,040 to $9,830 at current exchange, while the three models in the more over-the-top Élégante collection call for a $118,000 investment.
Despite the lack of exotic skins, 18-carat rose gold, sapphire crystal glass, and French DJ-designed ringtones, we’re perfectly content slumming it with our iPhones and will leave the Savelli designs to those living the BMF life (that’s “blowing money fast,” for any non-Rick Ross fans).
