Is Cavalli The Next Big Blogger?
Remember when Prada’s website was simply a picture of their ad campaign? You couldn’t click, you couldn’t browse lookbooks, you could only stare at an ad. Those days are over.
This season some of the industry’s most important fashion shows were livestreamed online and in the past year, the use of Twitter and Facebook by designers and fashion houses has exploded.
Next up? The designer blogger. One of the first to jump on the bandwagon: Roberto Cavalli. Cavalli recently launched his official blog: www.robertocavalliblog.com and on March 31st, the designer’s new website will go live, with a new aesthetic and a section devoted exclusively to the House of Cavalli’s 40th anniversary.
“I decided to increase the web platform as I have always been attracted by new technologies and my interest in social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, became the perfect way for me to communicate to my fans my lifestyle, my fashion, my ‘joie de vivre’,” Cavalli told UK Vogue.
Don’t be fooled. From what we have seen so far, Cavalli’s blog seems to be mostly a conversational take on press releases written by the Cavalli team. But we look forward to seeing what he has on tap for the months to come with his blog and new site, and how soon other designers will follow suit.
