Isaac Mizrahi: I Hope John Galliano Never Works Again

We can now add Isaac Mizrahi to the small (but growing!) group of designers who have spoken out against John Galliano‘s alleged anti-Semitism.

The Cut caught up with Mizrahi at the MCC Theater’s Annual Musical Spectacular Gala on Monday night, where he condemned Galliano’s statements and revealed he never much liked the guy or his designs, anyway.

“It can’t be tolerated. I guess I’m the wrong one to talk to, because I never really liked sort of what he did so much. I liked better what McQueen did. I liked better what Vivienne Westwood did. So now I don’t like it, and he’s a Jew hater? I was like, buh-bye.”

What The Cut doesn’t mention is that Mizrahi is an Egyptian Jew, whose family, at least, practices the religion. Though Mizrahi’s condemnation already puts him in the minority, he is now one of the very few Jewish designers who have spoken out at all.

Galliano’s work, Mizrahi added, is like “a pretty picture that had absolutely no relation to the world I live in… And I refer to him in the past tense, because I don’t think he’ll work again. I hope not. I hope he doesn’t work again.”

I used to really like Isaac But talk about calling the kettle black. He is an elitist snot who thinks it cool to be one. His designs are no where near as talented as Galliano. Maybe once upon an 80′s decade.
