Christie’s To Auction Isabella Blow’s McQueen Collection

Alexander McQueen and Isabella Blow were the best of friends. She loved his creative designs and he loved her eccentric personality and corresponding style. The two were like brother and sister, and whispers that Blow’s suicide contributed to McQueen’s circulated early on after his death.

Now, their names will once again be paired with one another in a Christie’s auction this September.

“What we have is unique — it shows that McQueen really deserves his place in fashion history and that Isabella was there before anyone else, she saw what was good so far ahead of the game,” Patricia Frost, the director of fashion and textile at Christie’s in London told the New York Times.

Over 90 of McQueen’s designs, 50 Philip Treacy hats, and a number of Manolo Blahnik shoes will be auctioned off in London on Septebmer 15th. All money made from the sale will go to Isabella Blow’s family estate.

We’re thrilled that Blow’s collection will be featured, especially if it is highlighted largely by McQueen garments, but sigh with sadness that such a fashion event would occur under these tragic circumstances.
