Model Isabelle Caro, The ‘Face Of Anorexia’ Is Dead
Caro’s acting coach Daniele Dubreuil-Prevot told the news service that Caro died shortly after returning to France from a job in Tokyo. Her exact cause of death is unknown, but the 28-year-old had been suffering from anorexia since she was 13.
Caro was perhaps best known for the No Anorexia billboards and commercials that popped up in Milan in 2007. Photographer Oliviero Toscani photographed her naked, and images of her fragile body were used to shock people into the realities anorexia and its prevalence among fashion models. A CBS News report, included below along with the billboard, called her “The Face of Anorexia.” She also famously talked about her struggle with the disease on Jessica Simpson‘s show The Price of Beauty.
Though she fought against anorexia personally and professionally, and even campaigned for a law to establish weight limit rules for models in France, she weighed between 55 and 70 pounds for most of her life.
