James Franco Drives A Car, Looks Contemplative For Gucci Eyewear
Compared to James Franco’s previous modeling endeavors, which include dressing in drag for Candy and showing his bare ass on the cover of Flaunt, this is pretty tame. It’s also the most humble we’ve ever seen someone look while driving a red convertible and wearing $300 sunglasses.
As the next step his plan to
take over the world further immerse himself in the world of fashion, Franco has kindly agreed to lend his face to Gucci’s Fall 2013 eyewear campaign. The Mert Alas- and Marcus Piggott-lensed ads feature the actor-turned-doctorate collector in the new Black Bamboo shades: a Seventies-inspired aviator based on the classic Bamboo version from Spring 2013.
Granted Franco looks a little distracted in the campaign, but ‘wearing sunglasses’ and ‘sitting in a car’ hardly match up to ‘convincingly fake-sawing off your own arm’ and ‘earning a PhD from Yale.’ Perhaps he’s simultaneously devising a compelling press release for that Gucci scent he also fronts? Those things are aren’t easy.
The ads drop globally next month, with the shades available from October 2013.
