Jane Aldridge Has ‘Never Really Been’ To Fashion Week

In an age when content management systems pony up the money to send people to fashion week, you’d think superstar bloggers like Jane Aldridge, known better perhaps as the lady behind Sea of Shoes, would be all over fashion week like white on rice. Turns out, not so.

We caught up with the blogger in advance of a party for Bar III, a Macy’s private-label brand she and bloggers Rumi Neely from Fashion Toast, Travis Gumbs and Joshua Kissi from Street Etiquette and Elizabeth Spiridakis from Feels Like White Lightning collaborated on together. And when we asked Aldridge for her tips on surviving the crazy week ahead, she said she couldn’t help us.

“I’ve never really been to [fashion week],” she said quite plainly. We balked. Surely it wasn’t for lack of invitations?

“I just haven’t gone because I don’t really cover current fashion,” she explained. And that’s fair — anyone who’s read her blog knows that it’s more about her personal style and love of shoes than it is about the latest runway trends.

As for the 24 bloggers whose trips to fashion week are being sponsored by Tumblr, Aldridge didn’t have much to say, other than she thinks the project is cool.

Cool! Aldridge will be back in town next week for WWD‘s Magic trade show. The pop-up shop for Bar III, on the corner of 5th Avenue and East 20th street in New York, will be open through March 6.

I hearts Jane Aldridge. She has a definite sense of style, and she just knows how to throw together a fabulous outfit. A lot of other bloggers just wear the trends they see on the runway and have very little definitive personal style. I get so tired of everyone wearing the same trendy thing. So… yay for Jane.
