Jennifer Lawrence On Acting: ‘It’s Stupid’

We’ve said time and time again that Jennifer Lawrence is the coolest kid on the block, and her interview with Vanity Fair just solidifies that notion.

The 22-year-old Hunger Games star is wearing a striped black and white top, and nibbling a daisy on the sunny cover of the mag’s February issue. Inside, Lawrence gets all sultry and lays against the hood of a car in a black cropped top, leopard pants, stilettos, and a bow headband. She photographs well, has great hair, blah blah blah, but it’s her interview that makes her the industry’s most kickass actress. She tells the mag:

“Not to sound rude, but [acting] is stupid. Everybody’s like, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky? I’m not saving anybody’s life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I’m making movies. It’s stupid.’”

Right on, Katniss! Though that isn’t to say that she doesn’t get starry-eyed when she sees awesome actresses:

“Once I’m obsessed with somebody, I’m terrified of them instantly. I’m not scared of them — I’m scared of me and how I will react. Like, for instance, one time someone was introducing me to Bill Maher, and I saw Meryl Streep walk into the room, and I literally put my hand right in Bill Maher’s face and said, ‘Not now, Bill!,’ and I just stared at Meryl Streep.” So, [Jim] Windolf asks, did she meet Meryl Streep? “Of course not. I just creepily stared at her.”

Yeah, we would’ve totally done the same.
