PHOTOS: The Jersey Shore Guys Get Makeovers from GQ
Disclaimer: I’ve been reading GQ since I was 13. When I was 19, I interviewed for an internship there, but got another (slightly cooler) offer before they got back to me. My monthly subscription to the magazine is paid off well into 2011, and the website is the second button on my bookmark bar (after Styleite, duh). I love GQ.
I thought until recently that the magazine could do no wrong, but I’m having a little trouble understanding why it betrayed the tie-clad followers of its church and featured those guys from The Jersey Shore in the magazine. Specifically, they’ve updated what The Situation, DJ Pauly D, Ronnie and Vinny wear to the gym, taking their over sized gym shorts and holey t-shirts and replacing them with the kind of gym wear any man could be proud of. Or something.
But, I suppose Jim Nelson‘s message is that every man — even the skeeziest, fake-bakeiest, womanizing-est of them — can look sharp and live smart. Harper’s Bazaar tried to get the women of the Shore to act a little more ladylike, so maybe this sartorial tuneup was in order. And if anything, at least they didn’t try to put these guys in suits.
