One of the very first covers of 2013 is here, and it is — drumroll please – Vogue Japan featuring Joan Smalls!

In the image, the top model appears in a very Egyptian-looking ensemble: a very fitted black dress with an intricate gold collar, gold hoops, and gold bangles. And of course, the look wouldn’t be complete without some serious winged black eyeliner. While we think the cover itself is a little busy (so much text!), we think Joan looks fantastic. How do you like the cover?
