Man Threatens To Kill Himself Over Joe Zee’s Reality Show
The problem with reality TV is that when the cameras stop rolling, the drama rarely does — or at least that’s how it’s going with Joe Zee‘s new show on Sundance, All On The Line. One of the show’s participants was so unreceptive to Zee’s criticism that he threatened to commit suicide.
The program puts Zee, the creative director of Elle, together with struggling designers to come up a plan to save their businesses. On the episode that aired last night, Zee advised designer Gemma Kahng to fire her friend and creative director David Victor Rose. When she did, Rose responded by promptly losing his ever-loving mind. Page Six reports that he sent prolific numbers of e-mails to Zee and to the show’s producers that were so concerning, Sundance hired a security detail to guard Zee on the show’s set and to shuffle him to and from Elle‘s offices.
“He would send about 25 text messages a day after I fired him,” Kahng told [Page Six], adding that Rose blamed the show for making her fire him. “He would send e-mails to Joe and the producers threatening to kill himself.”
Emphasis ours. Rose admitted to “completely freaking out,” but said he’s now seeing a therapist and trying to make amends with Kahng. Whether he’ll ever get within 200 feet of Joe Zee again remains to be seen.
