Joe Zee Explains Why Kim Kardashian Has Never Had An Elle Cover

Kim Kardashian has been on the cover of pretty much fashion and entertainment magazine in America, and on more than a few around the world. But Elle magazine creative director Joe Zee says the reason you’re not likely to see her on the cover of his magazine is because she just doesn’t do anything.

Zee told The Huffington Post that while Kardashian has made a big impression as a cover girl, she’s not what Elle is looking for. Why? Because being a self-branding machine just isn’t newsworthy.

I just wish that she would do something, but she’s not doing anything. If she actually did something, we would actually think about Kim for the cover. It’s about new. It’s not about, so much, a reality star. The idea is, are they newsworthy? Is it someone our readers want to read about?

By the same token, Zee said Elle would not abide a Snooki cover, but that the magazine’s Lauren Conrad cover was a pretty good seller. She’s a real designer, you see.

Poor Kim. Looks like she’ll have to promote something other than herself to be taken seriously. By Elle, we mean. Read the rest of Zee’s interview to find out who he says can always get an Elle cover here.

Joe Zee is so on the ball. His contribution to Elle has been insightful, forward thinking, and his take on ms. K is right on the money.
