John Galliano Comes Out Of Hiding To Attend A DJ’s Birthday Party

Normally when people are recovering from substance abuse, they’re cautioned to stay away from situations where they’d be tempted to use again. Apparently that is not the case for former Dior designer John Galliano, who came out of hiding to go to what we’re sure was a booze-riddled party for a longtime friend’s birthday.

Page Six reports that Galliano sat quietly in a corner at the 50th birthday party for DJ Jeremy Healy, hosted in a club in London’s SoHo neighborhood this weekend. Things apparently got real when people realized Galliano was there, but a source told Page Six that he didn’t do any drinking for the whole party.

The appearance of Galliano, who is in recovery, “caused quite a flutter in the room,” a spy said. “John was quiet and reserved, he was sober and very demure, but there to support his friend.”

Well, we’re glad to know that he can control himself in social situations, because it must mean that his recovery is going well. Either that, or his experience of being tossed from the coolest gig in fashion after drinking one too many and declaring allegiance to Hitler on tape has shamed him from ever touching the bottle again.

His not hiding, he just needs a break from society, his been in it since his early 20′s. John needs time out and to get his life in check, nothing wrong with that!!
