John Galliano Loses French Honor Award

France’s President François Hollande has stripped disgraced designer John Galliano of his Chevalier of the Legion of Honor award. Well, Hollande certainly took his sweet time — Galliano was found guilty of making Anti-Semitic remarks (and was fined a paltry $24,600) over eleven months ago.

If you recall, Galliano was given the honor in 2010, pre-racist rant. Then in 2011, he got drunk in Paris, made some very nasty remarks at a cafe, and got caught. He was fired from the house of Dior, fined a small sum, and then his atelier was awarded the Living Heritage Company later that same year. We’re clearly not as familiar with the French honor system, but we can’t help but wonder if the heritage award will get taken away, too.
