WATCH: The John Galliano Puppet Show is Kind of Creepy
We thought nothing could be more frightful than John Galliano in a drunken stupor, but after learning of “Little John” (not to be confused with crunk enthusiast Lil Jon), the puppet version of the French designer, we’re certifiably spooked.
Paris-based fashion magazine Vestoj has created a six-act, 20-minute theater piece starring the mini-me for its “fashion and power” fall issue. The storyline is based on the interview Galliano gave on Charlie Rose last June. The doll will be bedecked in the Napolean-style garb wore at his “Madame Butterfly” Dior show in 2007.
“Both Galliano and Rose appeared to be acting out some very clearly defined roles, with very little scope for improvisation,” Vestoj editor in chief Anja Aronowsky Cronberg told WWD, describing the play as scrutinizing “the power of the media and about the fact that the story we are being told is seldom the actual story of importance.”
The play debuted at a launch event for the issue on October 11, but the next performances are scheduled for December 10 in Paris and February 4 at the London College of Fashion. Despite Galliano’s penchant for theatrics, we’re not sure he’ll be too happy with the spectacle. Watch Fashionista’s preview of the play, below, and decide for yourself:
