Joseph Altuzarra Wins CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award
Congratulations are in order for Joseph Altuzarra, who last night was named the eighth winner of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.
The fund is a $300,000 grant, awarded by Vogue magazine and the Council of Fashion Designers of America to help talented emerging designers further their brands and careers. Along with the money comes a mentorship program from some of the fashion industry’s leading designers — many of whom showed up at the award gala in New York City last night. Women’s Wear Daily reports that in addition to keynote speaker Calvin Klein, CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg, Zac Posen, J.Crew‘s Jenna Lyons, Donna Karan and Thom Browne showed up to watch the fund get dispensed.
But not all of it went to Altuzarra — he just got the lion’s share. The competition’s runners up, jewelry designer Pamela Love and Shane Gabier and Chris Peters, who design the line Creatures of the Wind, will each take home $100,000. We hope the other finalists, including Suno’s Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis; Carlos Campos; Antonio Azzuolo of A.A. Antonio Azzuolo; Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs of Cushnie et Ochs; Ohne Titel’s Alexa Adams and Flora Gill; Fenton/Fallon’s Dana Lorenz, and Soraya Silchenstedt of Finn Jewelry at least walked away with a sense of accomplishment — this year’s field of competitors was infinitely talented.
Stay tuned for pictures from the glamorous event’s stylish red carpet, which we’ll post shortly.
