This Is What Kanye’s Crazy Cannes Pyramid Looked Like

Kanye West debuted his short film Cruel Summer at Cannes last week, and as we reported, it was an impressive (and impressively large) production.

We’ve been curious about the pyramid structure Yeezy showed his site-specific film in…haven’t you? Well, we can stop wondering what exactly this seven-screen immersive experience was all about and just take a look at some photos.

Rem Koolhaas‘s architecture firm OMA built the lifted pyramid in conjunction with Kanye’s DONDA, explaining on its website:

Located along Palm Beach, the pyramid’s canopy is hemmed to open up a panoramic backdrop of Cannes and the Mediterranean while creating an effect of levitation above the red carpet. Filmgoers ascend into the pyramid along a continuous red carpet that widens into the 200 seat auditorium.

The auditorium was outfitted with seven huge screens, some measuring 17′ x 17′ and others 17′ x 30′; the film was shot with a custom seven-camera rig in anticipation of the structure. It’s been reported that Cruel Summer — and the pyramid — will make its way around the world, or at least allegedly to New York and Qatar (where it was filmed).

Check out the pics below, and head on over to OMA for even more:
