Meet The Designer Who’s Working On Kanye West’s Women’s Collection

It’s the moment the fashion world has been waiting for: rapper Kanye West is going to debut his first womenswear collection during Paris Fashion Week, but not without the help of a talented British designer.

Vogue UK confirmed earlier this week that West will partner with Katie Eary, an up-and-coming designer who graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 2008. Initially, Eary focused on menswear, but learned she had a knack for dressing women when British Vogue asked to use her clothes for a photoshoot. Kate Moss wore the clothes, and Mario Testino shot them. On her brand website, Eary writes that if she’d “been doing womenswear, that wouldn’t have happened.”

Eary eventually started designing a women’s collection, which as far as we can tell has been received with the same verve as the clothing she makes for men. Both lines are outlandish and a little dark in sensibility, all while still being intensely upbeat and colorful. And when you think about it, similar descriptions have been applied to ‘Ye’s music. Take a look at some of Eary’s work below, and you’ll see why this is a match made in heaven.
