Karl Lagerfeld Compares Little Black Jackets To ’60s Black Empowerment

Karl Lagerfeld is the most quotable of designers. Sometimes the things that come out of his mouth are hilarious, sometimes they’re mean-spirited, and sometimes they’re just downright bizarre…like when he compared jackets to the ’60s black empowerment movement on Thursday. Uh, come again?

At the opening of Chanel’s Little Black Jacket exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris, the designer told WWD:

“This is like our jean, our T-shirt. … Black is a very becoming color on most people, always elegant. Black is beautiful, as they used to say in America.”

Riiight. We always knew the Kaiser was a little kooky, but we’re starting to think he may have gone off the deep end!
