Karl Lagerfeld: There’s Not Enough Class In The Middle Class

Are you sick of Karl yet? We’re not! This go ’round, he’s chatting with Vogue’s Hamish Bowles about his decision to launch a mid-priced collection, which is to say (in non-fashion speak): much cheaper than Chanel but still what most people would consider expensive.
“I was not interested in doing three times the same thing,” Lagerfeld says. “I like to do… that [low price] point and that [high price] point. The middle has not enough class that I think about the middle class.”
While we have no idea what Karl actually meant by this, Bowles apparently did because he just nodded and said, “Right.”
