Karl Walks Back His Adele Diss: I Called Her ‘Roundish, Not Fat’
In the promo for Karl Lagerfeld’s much-awaited return to CNN’s “Fashion: Backstage Pass” (last appearance he said Coco Chanel wouldn’t be a fan of his work at Chanel), host Alina Cho asks the Kaiser to further elaborate on the controversial words he had for Adele.
To refresh your memory, it all began when he called the the Brit chanteuse, “a little too fat,” and then, just days later, claimed that Adele was his favorite singer and that he was her biggest admirer.
In the interview, he tells Cho that his words were misprinted in the first place and that despite the mistake, he supports the message it sent.
“I never said that she was fat, I said that she was a little roundish. A little roundish is not fat. But for such a beautiful girl, after that she lost eight kilo so I think the message was not that bad.”
Oh, Karl. You would stake a claim in the singer’s recent weight loss, wouldn’t you?
At the end of the teaser clip, Cho asks Lagerfeld a question we already knew the answer to.
“Do you every regret anything that you say?,” asks Cho. “Not really.” he replies.
Give the short clip a watch for yourself, and if you find yourself vying for more of that Lagerfeld candor, we’ve got you covered, below.
