WATCH: Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel Cruise Film Looks Fairy-Filled, Awesome
Film is a medium Karl Lagerfeld is really into. We’ve seen him direct models for Hogan, an ice cream-eating Rachel Bilson for Magnum, and all sorts of people for Chanel. The Kaiser is staging the house’s cruise show in Cap d’Antibes next week, and he’s made a 30-minute short film to accompany it. It looks awesome.
As Karl explains: “It is a movie about an ill-advised use of money which begins with violence and ends with feeling.” The trailer for The Tale of a Fairy gives us a glimpse of what we’ll be seeing on Monday. From what we can surmise, Kristen McMenamy is the one with the money troubles, and Baptiste Giabiconi plays her godson who she may be kissing. Freja Beha Erichson plays the sometimes-topless fairy in question, who tells McMenamy, “I am nobody. I can change it all.” She then proceeds to share some tender kisses with Anna Mouglalis. Amanda Harlech and Mark Vanderloo are also involved in all of this.
We’re so intrigued! The trailer’s suspenseful! And beautiful! And “some people may be shocked,” says Karl! As expected, the clothes (and jewelry!) are amazing — McMenamy even has a nose ring. Yeah, you can be sure we’ll be watching when the full film streams on Chanel’s website, Monday at 5:00 p.m. EST.
