Kate Gets Festive, Wears Red Maple Leaf Hat In Honor Of Canada Day

Oh, man. Kate is really upping the royal ante here! In honor of Canada Day, she went full-on festive in the most appropriate (and literal) of ensembles.

The Duchess of Cambridge busted out that lovely cream Reiss dress she wore in her engagement photos, and styled it with sensible red heels and a red and white Anya Hindmarch clutch. As if the color scheme wasn’t enough of a nod to our neighbors to the north, she topped the look off with the Queen‘s maple leaf brooch…and a red maple leaf fascinator!

The Sylvia Fletcher-designed chapeau is really something to behold. The shape is in keeping with her headwear preferences, but it’s the leaves that have us riveted. They’re hilarious! But also kind of cute!

    Why would you say the red maple leaf is hillarious? It’s an important symbol of Canada’s flag. Would you say the same about the stars on the US flag? The red circle on Japans flag?  Do they look hillarious to you also? Every country has their own flag. Each symbol, each design, should be respected, not ridiculed.
