Kate Middleton is a ‘No Fuss’ Shopper Who Lives for Bargains
Breaking: Kate Middleton is even more down-to-earth than we thought. As the Duchess of Cambridge, she has personal shoppers at her disposal and luxury department stores just waiting to shutdown their entire establishment to the public for her, and yet, Middleton would rather blithely peruse Reiss’s 60 perfect off rack. This modus operandi being a far cry from the Prince of Thailand.
A Reiss shop assistant told Mark Ellwood, author of Bargain Fever: How to Shop in a Discounted World,
“You look up and there’ll be Kate and her same two friends going through the 60 per cent off rack. You have no idea she’s there and security must be outside, but she comes in all the time. And she’s totally different to the Prince of Thailand, who I heard shut down a restaurant and brought his own staff when he visited Bicester.”
We give Middleton props, because we can’t even lie, if we had the opportunity to shut down Harrods or Printemps, we’d do so without so much as feigning hesitation. We’re bad!
This said, we’re also totally unabashed about being bargain shoppers, which means we agree with all of Ellwood’s retail sentiments. “There is no reason to pay full price ever and there is no reason to accept full price – and if you do, you’re a fool,” he told the Daily Mail. “You can always find a way to get a legal discount. Do you pay cash? Do you ask nicely? There is always an angle.”
We’re a bit smug about our own expansive knowledge of bargain hunting, but have to admit that Ellwood could teach us a thing or two. And if he’s smart, he’ll be gifting his book to the world’s most economical royal.
