Kate Moss’s $800,000 Wedding Includes BBQ And Lots Of Vodka
If you’ve been living under some kind of rock for the past few months, you might have missed the news that supermodel Kate Moss is tying the knot with rocker Jamie Hince next Friday. But the wedding reception will go on for a full three days, and Moss has taken every step to make sure that the celebration will be remembered as the best party in history.
In her attempts to out-do a certain other Kate who got married in England this year, Moss has spared literally no expense. She’s flying in the staff of the Ritz Hotel in Paris to make sure her house guests have enough food for the long weekend at her house, where the celebration is going to be held. She’s bought several truckloads (literally, like, big trucks full) of top-shelf vodka, champagne and Red Bull for them to drink. She’s even built an additional house on her property for some of them to stay in. We’re guessing it’ll make a fun hideaway when all of her guests have gone home.
Herein, everything we know so far about the wedding reception to end all wedding receptions:
The Guest List:
Yes, Moss’ bestie John Galliano will be there. Or at least The Daily Mail seems to think he will be — we don’t know exactly what the rules are in France, but we would have thought he couldn’t leave the country while he waits for the judgment in his public insult trial. Maybe Moss is powerful enough to get him out for a weekend of doing exactly what landed him in trouble in the first place: hedonistic boozing. But, it would lend some credence to the idea that he’s designing her wedding dress. Also! Moss’s parents will be there, although apparently they don’t get along, and Hince’s parents, who are allegedly pretty prim and proper. And
Daphne Guinness, Vivienne Westwood, Naomi Campbell, Sir Philip Green, Jude Law and Jade Jagger, among others, will be there to watch the parental tension — and photographer Mario Testino will be there to capture it all on film.
The Food and Drink:
Two chefs have been hired to oversee the all the meals, hors d’oeuvres and the army of waiters who will serve it all to Moss and her guests. While we’ve read that the menu will include barbecue and a full array of vegan and vegetarian meals for Hince (who doesn’t eat meat) and other friends who can’t eat Keith Richards‘ shepherd’s pie. No, really. The Telegraph Australia reports that a variety of famous rockers who might not be performing have loaned Moss recipes for some of her favorite dishes:
A close friend of the fashionista says she has pulled in all her showbiz heroes’ favourite recipes to serve to the guests: “She is going to be serving Keith Richards’ shepherd’s pie, Steve Tyler‘s thai curry and Primal Scream‘s Bobby Gillespie‘s sausage and mash.
Mosstock, The Concert:
Moss has been treating her reception more like a music festival than a, well, a wedding reception. The Daily Mail reports that Moss and her legion of wedding guests will be entertained by Snoop Dog and Carl Barat, who used to be in The Libertines with Kate’s ex-boyfriend Pete Doherty. Also rumored to perform? Oh, just Beth Ditto, Iggy Pop and Dame Shirley Bassey. Jealous yet? Not jealous enough. Moss herself wants to do some of the entertaining, so she’ll be leading the horde in karaoke at some point during the weekend. Can you imagine? Karaoke with Snoop and the world’s fashion royalty? We’re not even invited and our heads are about to explode.
Word has it Moss’s assistant Fiona Young has been on the phone with virtually ever public relations account executive in Great Britain, trying to get items to fill the “Oscars-style” gift bags that will be given out at the end of the weekend. So far, she’s gotten Mulberry and a few cosmetics brands to put things in the bags. She’s also organized a beauty tent at on the grounds of Moss’s house, where guests will be able to get their nails done and have a massage. We hope they’re going to bring her some really nice gifts.
That’s everything we know so far, but you can bet we’ll keep an eye out for more details on Friday and this weekend. No matter what goes down, this wedding is going to be a doozy.
