PHOTO: Kate Upton Snags Her First Vogue Cover

Well, Kate Upton has finally done it — the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model has landed her very first Vogue cover. The buxom blonde fronts Vogue Italia‘s November issue, which is no small fashion feat, especially for a model once deemed “too obvious” for the likes of Victoria’s Secret.

The 20-year-old has really risen through the ranks of the fashion world since fronting Sports Illustrated‘s Swimsuit Issue last year. Upton has booked a a slew of covers and no shortage of editorials, including two for American Vogue. The cover of Vogue Italia marks a seriously noteworthy accomplishment for the model — editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani is known for her controversial spreads and high-fashion shoots — and begs the question: will a U.S. Vogue cover follow? Only Anna Wintour knows.

Upton works a Fendi coat, Patricia Field top, costume jewelry by Kenneth Jay Lane, and a bright red lip in the Steven Meisel-lensed cover shot.

    I’ll have to repeat my surprise but it’s not because Meisel, Wintour, Sozzani or whoever thinks one way (a.k.a she is “good” to model) that WE ALL have to think the same, that’s called “free will”. To me this girl doesn’t have the class, the elegance or the skills to be a high fashion model and she doesn’t exude the power that previous top models, who graced those covers and editorials, have. Period. I don’t like her image, the way she speaks and doesn’t translate well with the super luxurious images of top brands. She’s funny, young and sexy yes but not a model.
