Katy Perry’s Lips Were Covered In 150 Crystals For Harper’s

Katy Perry‘s December Harper’s Bazaar cover baffled us. Katy simply did not look like Katy. The special cover that Harper’s just released doesn’t look much like her either, but we definitely prefer the stylized limited edition cover to the wack Photoshopped version.

Katy’s lips were covered in 150 Swarovski crystals for the cover, shot by Alexi Lubomirski. The close-up photo recalls (or maybe rips off?) the iconic January 1950 Vogue cover, featuring Jean Patchett photographed by Erwin Blumenfeld.

It sort of looks like she has boils on her lips, but I agree, it’s much better than the uber-photoshopped version.

I agree with Chelsea Rae. Why aren’t the Swarovski crystals shinier? Although the dullness of them make her lips look terrible, but I’d much rather look at that cover than the other photoshopped one of her. The 1950′s cover is definitely more clever, they should have kept Katy’s eyes less dramatic if they were going to add the crystals.
