PHOTOS: Keira And Carey Take Risks, Reap Rewards

While Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan both have celebrated red carpet style, it’s fun to get to see them have a little fun with what they wear — and to see them take risks. Earlier today at the photocall for their new movie “Never Let Me Go,” both young actors wore outfits that we weren’t sure we liked at first. But after looking at them all morning, now they’re kinda sorta growing on us. (Andrew Garfield, it must be noted, was there and looked a pretty standard version of good, in a simple tweed blazer, black pants and brown shoes.)

Keira’s brave combination of a brown blouse with a hyper-detailed lace overlay with a blue-and-white printed handkerchief hemline skirt is, well, brave. [Ed Note: And may or may not be a dress made to look like separates. I can't tell.] But in a good way. If it weren’t for the serious mixed metaphors she was sending us, we’d think the look was slapdash and not thought through. Meanwhile, Carey’s acrid yellow cap-sleeve cocktail dress would be undeniably pretty in almost any other color, but it’s astounding to us that she makes it work.

But maybe we’re just reading too much into both these outfits. Scroll down to see them both for yourself, then be sure to tell us what you think.

Why would Keira ruin such a beautiful top by matching it with that unfortunate skirt–you cant really tell if there is any merit to the skirt on its own.
Carey on the other hand almost carries off the mustard color of the dress–almost. But the dress is so cute and so is she so I’ll give her a pass on this one.
