Why Did Kelly Cutrone Fire Her Assistant Andrew Mukamal?
We were sad to hear that Kelly Cutrone parted ways with her Rick Owens-loving assistant Andrew Mukamal right before Fashion Week, and we’ve been wondering what happened to the pair ever since. Word on the street was that Andrew wanted to become a stylist, and his work for Kimberly Taylor‘s spring/summer 2011 show seemed to confirm this fact.
Cutrone kept mum re: Andrew — until now. As we suspected, his role on Kell on Earth made him reevaluate his career goals. However, the split was a lot less amicable than we initially thought. Basically, he didn’t want to act like an assistant anymore. Shades of Brad, perhaps?
Kelly told Page Six: ”He cared more about being a TV personality than being my assistant. Just because you worked as an assistant in the fashion industry doesn’t make you an expert.” Burn! Andrew didn’t want to get Kelly’s coffee anymore (and we know what happens when Kelly doesn’t get her coffee), and she’s mad he tweeted pictures of himself in front of a People’s Revolution sign.
Andrew reportedly pitched a solo reality show to E!, but there’s no word on whether that will actually come to fruition. One thing’s for sure: Kelly is one chick we would not want to piss off.
