Kids’ Choice Awards: The Hits And The Misses!

Saturday evening marked Nickelodeon’s 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards, one of the few opportunities that Young Hollywood has to dress playfully and casually. This weekend’s Orange Carpet was rather refreshing; we saw color, beautiful draping, and charming accessories.

Here are some of our favorites and, of course, a few of our least favorites

The Hits

Zoe Saldana in a cropped Isabel Marant jacket, simple white tee shirt, classic skinny jeans, and silver peep toe Christian Louboutins. We’re a little confused about the color choice for her clutch, especially considering the sleek-chicness of the rest of her outfit.

Rihanna wore a belted Christian Dior bold-shouldered dress, nude shoes by Brian Atwood, and sheer ankle socks. The draping at the upper bodice is exquisite and we love that she sported the socks with heels, but wish the toe was a tad rounder to balance out the harshness of the shoulders. But overall a good, fashion-forward choice that didn’t scare away the kiddies.

Nikki Reed got it right in this Cynthia Steffe strapless mini dress and Jimmy Choo sandals. Her outfit was delightfully colorful and appropriately playful.

Selena Gomez, who took home the award for the Favorite TV Actress, exuded Spring in her canary yellow Christian Cota mini dress with a woven gold belt and Lauren Merkin gold clutch. We applaud her decision to sport the messy side braid — which beautifully displayed at least one of her earrings and which we’re now dying to know who designed.

Victorious star Victoria Justice looked stunning in her off-the-shoulder green mini dress and Alexander Wang lace-up boots — which Miley was also wearing, and which we’re absolutely obsessed with. We love that she played with two different and often competing styles: Hollywood elegance and rockstar-glam.

I agree with you about Selena Gomez’s, outfit. She always seems to make good decisions about what to wear. On the other hand Miley Cyrus always seems to make bad decisions. I know from some of comments she really doesn’t care what people say about her, most recently about her posture at the Oscars. I would actually support her attitude if I thought that her choices if they were based on some kind of informed aesthetic. For instance while I don’t necessarily like Katy Perry’s dress it does seem like it fits in with the character she plays from her music to the vintage pin up look she wears when performing. Overall, it’s good to see that there were more of the best dressed than there were worst dressed.
