WATCH: In Which Children Try To Explain Lady Gaga

If there’s one thing we know with complete metaphysical certitude, it’s that no one will ever be able to fully explain Lady Gaga. It’s just not going to happen. So when a group of kids were asked to react to that video of her eating David Letterman‘s question cards, of course the results were going to be entertaining and enlightening.

Kids more or less fall along the same lines as grown folks on a number of Gaga-related issues. Not all of them like her, and more than a few think her whole act is just one expensive gimmick. Also, almost all of the kids asked thought she was somewhere in the 40- to 50-year-old range, because she “dresses so old!”

On her stage name:

“My friend is Filipino, right? And she told me that gaga means stupid in Filipino. If she does a tour and she goes to the Philippines, it’s like, ‘Welcome Lady Stupid!’”

On her music videos:

“You know, I’ve seen one. I didn’t want to see the rest.”

On her worldwide popularity:

“It’s like those cheerleader popular girls. You always have to like them, or you get rejected from society.”

Now, yes, all of that is adorable and hilarious, but some of the kids make some salient and fair criticisms of her music — how each song on Born This Way sounds more like the others than the tracks on The Fame Monster, or how she promotes acceptance. Of course, more than a few of the kids thought she was a plain old weirdo.

Also, if you’ve got a few extra minutes, the deleted scenes are so worth it!

Such a stupid article. What is this even supposed to prove? I’m sure these are biased results because I know many kids who look up to her and that’s not incorporated in this article.
