Designers Still Aren’t Lending To Kim, So Du Jour Put Her In A Towel
Not to be outdone by Kate Middleton‘s big Royal Baby Bump reveal earlier today, Kim Kardashian‘s first pregnant magazine cover is here!
Ok, so it’s not exactly a Demi Moore on Vanity Fair moment (though stay tuned for that sometime around July, we’d imagine), but it is a relatively new look for the reality star. Kardashian was snapped by Bruce Weber for the March issue of Du Jour, the digital and print title aimed at Gilt Groupe‘s wealthiest members. She wears minimal makeup and perhaps less clothing in the 18-page spread, though she does rock towels and floral crowns.
Fashionista spoke with co-editor-in-chief Keith Pollock, who explained their most recent choice of cover girl, and touched on the problem that Nicola Formichetti recently confessed to having when trying to pull designer clothing for Kim’s Elle shoot:
“I think there’s some hesitation to work with Kim just because she doesn’t necessarily fit with most luxury brands’ visions. Luckily with Bruce, we didn’t try to create a fashion shoot. Formichetti was really trying to position her as a fashion force but we went the opposite way. It was about showing her in more a natural way. We went really minimal with makeup. There are very few fashion credits. In one shot she’s wearing towels…And despite the hesitation from these brands – she’s still wearing Gucci and Chanel and Lanvin even if they’re not lending it to her. She can buy them. So we thought, ‘Let’s not make this a fashion story.’”
