Kim Kardashian’s Purses Are Pretty Flagrant Designer Knockoffs

We’ll understand if you’re not at all interested in hearing about any more of Kim Kardashian‘s troubles, but this totally tugs our “fashion law” heartstring. It hasn’t gone unnoticed that a lot of the bags in the Kardashian Kollection look way, way similar to some very well known designer bags, and now we in the blogosphere are questioning just how long it’ll take before some of those designer brands start suing.

Kim and her sister Khloe made a few appearances in Australia to launch the handbag collection earlier this week, only to leave the landmass ahead of schedule because of the stress of her divorce. We wonder how much more stressed she’ll be when the head counsels at Balenciaga, Chloe and Yves Saint Laurent deliver cease-and-desist letters asking Sears to stop selling her relatively low-priced bags, some of which are almost direct copies of designer purses that have been on the market for years. And if you’ll recall, Kardashian has already been sued over the similarities between one of her bags and Monica Botkier‘s Trigger Clyde tote.

Take a look at a few of the more flagrant abuses of trade dress below, and let us know if you want to set up a pool for when the first lawsuit will land. We’re guessing it’ll be Balenciaga sometime before Christmas. What say you?
