Was Kimora Fired For Photoshopping Herself?
On Saturday, Kimora Lee Simmons announced her so-called resignation from Baby Phat via Twitter. And though she made it quick clear that it was not an amicable departure, the details of the split were unknown. But according to The New York Post, Simmons was pushed out — and for some very specific reasons.
A source told the Post:
“Kimora was going over-budget. She’d pay herself a fee to be in the ads, plus she paid her children fees to appear in ads. It costs thousands of dollars to airbrush her because she’s a size 10. Plus, they spent a ton of money on body doubles. They would shoot another model in the clothes, and take Kimora’s head and put in on her body.”
Oh, yes, that time Baby Phat took Kimora’s head and put it on Daria Werbowy‘s body.
But here’s where we take issue with Simmons’ alleged termination — unless she was specifically requesting it, those “thousands of dollars” in airbrushing aren’t her fault. Simmons is a former model and a beautiful woman who regularly poses for images on the red carpet that are disseminated in print and web publications around the world. It seems like if Baby Phat wanted to save a little cash, they could have left Simmons looking gorgeous, natural, and just as she is.
