Kristen Stewart: Elle’s Uncomfortable Cover Girl

Get your allowance ready, tweens! It looks like Elle has caught Twilight fever. Kristen Stewart is next month’s Elle cover girl. The usually frowning Kristen appears looking a bit more light-hearted than usual — she’s sporting a half smile rather than a soulless gaze — but as always, Stewart looks awkward and out of place against the pink and white cover. But we’d expect nothing less.

In the issue, Kristen defends her famously awkward appearance.

“People say that I’m miserable all the time. It’s not that I’m miserable, it’s just that somebody’s yelling at me…I literally, sometimes, have to keep myself from crying…It’s a physical reaction to the energy that’s thrown at you.”

As much as it pains us to see Kristen’s perpetually miserable facial expressions on the red carpet, it pains us even more to see the actress on a cover with large pink print and wearing a country club look. We’re loving the grey high-waisted shorts, but not so crazy about the jewelry (yes, that’s a leopard print watch), or the camisole. And just because you threw some chains on her, Elle, does not mean you’ve embraced her personal style. It just looks out of place.

For the record, the looks a lot better and a lot more herself on the inside. What do you think?
