Lady Gaga Wears Armani Bodysuit On American Idol (VIDEO)
Featuring an over-the-top set, smoke machines, about eight shirtless and pantless (depending on the gender) dancers, and a large statue of what appeared to be an archangel of sorts, Lady Gaga’s performance of “Alejandro” on Wednesday’s American Idol was typical Fame Monster fare.
Also decidedly Gaga was her lace, mesh, and crystal-studded bodysuit, which WWD reports was designed by Armani.
The designer described the outfit – a silk mesh bodysuit with embroidered Chantilly lace and crystal and jet beading, topped with a silk organza cape – as “pure fantasy.”
As for Gaga herself, Armani calls her a “modern phenomenon who has proved to be fascinating, and whose every appearance is a piece of theatre.”
While she certainly looked fantastic, does anyone else think “Alejandro” is Gaga’s weakest song to date? Furthermore, do the Spanish tones, overwrought accent, and overall theme remind you more than a little of Madonna’s “La Isla Bonita” — which, while we’re talking about it — may or may not have been my favorite childhood song?
