Ex-Boyfriend Claims He ‘Named’ Lady Gaga, Sues For $30M
A former producer and ex-boyfriend of Lady Gaga’s is claiming credit for transforming what he calls a Manhattan “guidette” into a mega-star.
Rob Fusari, who co-wrote “Paparazzi,” is suing two companies owned by Gaga for more than $30 million. Fusari was introduced to Lady Gaga via a friend who thought she fit his idea of “an all-girl version of The Strokes.” After asking Gaga to play one of her songs on the piano, he “realized that Germanotta had star potential. The trick would be coaxing it out of her.”
Fusari claims that he encouraged Gaga to add dancebeats to her songs and, furthermore, that he came up with the Lady Gaga moniker. According to the suit: “One day when Fusari addressed a cell phone text to Germanotta under the moniker ‘Radio Gaga’ his cell phone’s spell check converted ‘Radio’ to ‘Lady. Germanotta loved it and ‘Lady Gaga’ was born.”
The whole story seems a little spurned-lover-of-now-giant-popstar-tries-to-cash-in to us, so we’re curious to see how this plays out. The real question seems to be: did he design any of her hats?
