PHOTOS: Lady Gaga Wears A Dress Made Of Meat

UPDATE: Nicola Formichetti‘s blog credits the dress as a Franc Fernandez creation, leaving us wondering whether he had anything to do with the meat bikini.

Well, and there you have it. Lady Gaga has officially outdone herself. Last week, photos leaked of Gaga covered in nothing but meat for an alleged Vogue Hommes Japan cover. Tonight, as her third MTV Video Music Awards ensemble, Gaga wore a dress made of, you guessed it!, meat — which she paired with a “meat purse” and shoes wrapped in meat, wrapped in butcher’s twine.

While Gaga made no mention of her dress in her acceptance speech (though she did thank Cher for holding her “meat purse”), we found this apparent explanation for the beefy ensemble on Popcrunch:

“Well, it is certainly no disrespect to anyone that is vegan or vegetarian. As you know, I am the most judgement-free human being on the earth. However, it has many interpretations. For me this evening, if we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights pretty soon, we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on own bones. And, I am not a piece of meat.”

There’s no source published in the post, so perhaps it’s something Gaga said in an interview at the end of the night?

    I am just glad that she had on a pair of shoes with heels – versus the ones she fell in and continues to wear with out the heel. (I wonder if the heel-less shoes are making her legs stronger.)

    The more I look at this picture, the more questions I have – how did she keep the meat cold prior to putting it on her skin? How did it feel to have meat draped all over your body – was it cold and clammy? Did it smell? The smell of raw meat can be over powering…etc

    I profess, I eat meat. But … uhm … I would never WEAR meat. It just looks sick. That’s sort of like in the Hannibal books/movie where the villian fashions himself a dress out of human skin. SAME THING YEAH?
