Lady Gaga Adds ‘Global Newspaper Editor’ To Her Resume

As sort-of-experienced writers, we’re a little miffed that Lady Gaga can just get out of bed in the morning and decide that she wants to be a journalist. Because in addition to her upcoming column for V Magazine, the mother monster is also going to guest edit Metro, the free newspaper with local editions in over 100 cities across the world.

The takeover takes place on May 17, when Lady Gaga will actually fly to Metro‘s central news desk in London to direct the 20-country operation. Her official title for the day will be global guest-editor-in-chief, but we’re guessing the paper’s actual global editor in chief Maggie Samways will be close at hand to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. Gaga will focus the contents of the international editions on the issues of equality and individuality, and will provide her commentary on the breaking news of the day. Is it a ploy to get millions of people to buy her new album Born This Way when it comes out a week later? Yes, yes it is. And it’s genius.

The paper is also hosting an essay competition to find an editorial assistant for Lady Gaga — but not just anyone will do. Whoever writes the winning essay will have to know exactly what way they were born:

“Let’s see how fans would define what ‘Born This Way’ is for them,” says Lady Gaga. “I say I was born to be brave. That’s part of my mission in life. I was born to follow my artistic visions. Look into yourself. Are you born to be brave?”

We’re not gonna lie. We love working at Styleite, but we’ve already got an essay for this gig drafted.
