WATCH: Lady Gaga Got Thrown Into A Trash Can In High School

As powerful as she is now, Lady Gaga wasn’t always the record and sense-defying phenom she she is today. Like a lot of us, when she was in high school, she was the target of bullying. Except, in her case, bullying didn’t take the form of intimidation or even being called names. Gaga literally got treated like trash.

In the following clip from MTV‘s upcoming special Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside, the Mother Monster explains one particularly horrifying incident of bullying, in which a group of boys actually put her in the garbage. “The boys picked me up and threw me in the trash can. On the street. On the corner of my block while all the other girls from the school were leaving and could see me in the trash.”

Gaga has been an advocate for anti-bullying initiatives, and after being treated like that, it’s no wonder why. Gaga credits her fans with awakening her desire to make sure things like this don’t happen to other kids.

MTV says the special will provide fans with a more intimate look at Gaga when it airs on May 26 at 9 pm. Take a sneak peek below.
