Steven Klein To Direct Lady Gaga’s Next Video
The murder. The masturbation. The make-us-want-to-die fashion. Yes, we’re still very much hung up on Lady Gaga’s “Telephone.” But Gaga isn’t one to rest on her laurels, and we hear she’s already hard at work on a follow-up.
Of course, the diva has set the bar pretty high and, as such, expectations for the upcoming third single off of her “Fame Monster” album will likely be bigger than a set of her crystal-encrusted shoulder pads.
So we were slightly surprised to hear that she’s tapped fashion photographer Steven Klein to direct the video. But before you go boohooing consider that Klein — the lensman behind many a controversial editorial in French Vogue, W and V — became a superstar for his transgressive take and a raw, sexual realism. Think half-naked girls splayed out in dingy concrete warehouses handcuffed by their ankles to a bedframe.
So what to expect for “Alejandro”? An extended, more visceral, and more immediate Klein editorial, perhaps? Or better yet a sequel to “Clorox Blue” that infamously raunch-tastic (and slightly disturbing) featurette which saw Amber Valetta as a couture-clad bathroom prostitute who has her way with two boy-toys du jour.
Alas, we hope the Lady knows what she’s getting into. Scratch that, we’re almost certain she knows what she’s getting into.
