WATCH: Woman Kills Cat To Make Outfit For Lady Gaga Concert

Our undying love for Lady Gaga could probably lead us to do some crazy stuff, but skinning a beloved family pet and using its blood as part of an outfit to wear at her concerts is not one of them.

We thought that that boundary applied to everyone until we came across this news story about a 20-year-old Oklahoma woman named Angelina Barnes. Police say Barnes drowned her family’s beloved 15-year-old tabby cat, scratched out its eyes, cut it open and removed its liver.

A relative came home to find Barnes shrouded in darkness, (the light switches had been covered with duct tape “so she wouldn’t be able to turn on the light”). Barnes was wearing a long coat with streaks of the cats blood on her face. The liver was found in a makeup case on the bathroom counter. Barnes reportedly asked for help and is currently being treated in a hospital where she threatened a nurse with a piece of glass. It’s going to be a long recovery.

    Good Lord.

I hope they punish her A LOT, not acceptable and Lady Gaga would be horrified!

Of course we react to this story and it’s details of incredible cruelty but how is this in anyway different than the “meat dress” worn by GagGag? The animals who lost their lives to create her dress were no doubt treated to the same amount of cruelty and injustice as this poor cat (http://meatvideo.com/). And her BS reasoning behind the dress that if you don’t speak up for yourself you’re only as free as “the meat on your bones”- lame! What about the animals she was wearing who couldn’t speak up for themselves and are the mercy of either our affectionate or violent whims? She preaches peace, love, equality for all but stops at just humans? I appreciate her support of equal rights but sometimes homegirl be trippin’!

I would love for LGG to come out at some point and say something to the effect of “I am a creative genius, but sometimes I get so caught up in my beliefs that I lose sight of the bigger picture. The meat dress was one of those times. Gay, straight, black, white, male, female, human, animal and everything in between deserve to live freely and with dignity. I apologize to the animals I hurt and people I offended and hope we can all remain united in the fight for equal rights.” Something, anything like that. Until then, I will continue to wait for LGG to walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

So you don’t eat meat, do you?

  • HumVee

No, Zyzzyva, I do not eat meat.

I can however appreciate that it is a deeply personal choice and therefore I do not proselytize others into becoming veggie. That being said, I will speak up when an incident like this occurs and this girl (who is obviously mentally unwell) is put through the ringer without having the completely obvious fact stated that she has done the EXACT same thing as LGG- killing an animal and wearing it for “fashion”.

I’m not saying LGG is entirely to blame but it is irresponsible to act as though LGG’s public status and poor decisions had no impact whatsoever.

I would like to pose this question- If LGG never wore that meat dress would this idea have ever occured to that girl? Tough to say…
