Lara Stone Signs Exclusive Deal With Calvin Klein: Thrice
For the first time since 2007, Calvin Klein has decided to use Lara Stone — and Lara Stone only — for thee of its brands’ ad campaigns. Stone will appear in advertisements for Calvin Klein Collection, ck Calvin Klein, and Calvin Klein Jeans this upcoming fall.
“I have a long history with the Calvin Klein brand,” said Stone who modeled for the brand in 2007 and walked in Calvin Klein shows for two consecutive years. “It was wonderful to work with the house again this year. It’s like being part of a family.”
So out of all of the top young models, why Stone? Why not Agyness Deyn? Or Miranda Kerr? Perhaps Coco Rocha would have been a good fit? Choosing Stone was no mystery to us, and no difficult choice for Francisco Costa, the creative director for women’s Calvin Klein Collection.
“I conceived my fall 2010 collection with a self-aware and assured woman in mind,” Costa told WWD. “For me, Lara was the perfect choice for the new campaign because she is a woman who epitomizes confidence and sensuality.”
From H&M to Prada, and everything in between, Stone’s versatility shines through in every ad campaign and every magazine spread she does. She can go from a dainty, pretty girl to a vicious, femme fatale in a camera’s flash. This adaptability combined with her confidence makes us certain she’s the perfect choice for Costa’s campaigns.
We’re loving the black and white advertisement shot for Collection by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. It’s difficult to forget previous Calvin Klein ad campaigns that featured models in black and white — Kate Moss/Mark Wahlberg, Kellan Lutz, Eva Mendes — and find Stone’s image a perfect addition to the catalogue of Calvin Klein advertisements.
