Who Would Lena Dunham Kill Off Of Girls?
Lena Dunham and her Girls are among the biggest stars on television at the moment, but that wouldn’t stop the 26-year-old from killing off one her besties. In fact, she’d do it in a heartbeat.
In an interview with Tavi Gevinson for Garage‘s fourth issue via late night phone call, Dunham is given a challenge: “If HBO was like, ‘You have to kill off one of the main girls or we’re going to cancel the show’, which would it be?”
Dunham offered the following more-than-game response:
“I think about it all the time. I love everyone, everyone is inspiring. I don’t want to kill Jessa off because it’s too obvious. She seems like the person who’s going to drive off a cliff or contract a horrible, life-threatening disease through bad behavior, or she’s going to eat something weird and get something strange. The implications of Marnie dying would be too insane for Hannah. Which only leaves the option of Shoshanna.”
Shoshanna, you are the weakest link.
Well, actually, that’s not true. Dunham doesn’t really want to kill off Shoshanna:
Tavi: What about not thinking about what makes the show good, just thinking about which one would you love to never meet again?
Lena: There’s something with Hannah where if Marnie dies she’d be happy, and I would be happy to be done with her fucking problems forever.
