Which Les Mis Lady Looked Best At The World Premiere?

Asking us to choose between Balenciaga and Givenchy is usually like asking us to pick a favorite child…you know, if we had children.

But at tonight’s world premiere of Les Misérables in London, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried stepped out dressed to the nines in creations by Riccardo Tisci and Nicolas Ghesquiére, and, in a strange turn of events, we weren’t particularly blown away by either look.

After months of hearing about crazy diets and drastic haircuts, and seeing the leading ladies pop up on every cover from Vogue to Glamour to Vanity Fair, we kind of expected something a little more “wow” from the two stars.

Anne’s is a riskier choice — the gown, from Tisci’s spring couture collection, features cutout shoulders, drooping sleeves, and a ruffle down the rear. The all-over gem embellishment and spiked ring at the collar gives it an appealing edge, but we wish Hathaway had kicked things out of neutral after her recent slew of monochromatic turns on the red carpet.

Seyfried, meanwhile, chose a dress from Ghesquière’s final collection for Balenciaga (sigh), which would usually earn her automatic best dressed in our books, but in this case we wish the skirt had been hitched up a few inches for a bit more leg.

What about you? Are you team Anne or team Amanda?

    Both ugly!

How can anyone be on Team Anne especially after the Oscars…and now this dress. I’m sorry but the last time she was not annoying was Princess Diaries I.

Whatever happened to this Balenciaga dress – I don’t know, but I saw this collection on the rynway and , as usual, the dresses were fabulous. Why this legth though? More leg revealed would have been so much better.
