Louis Vuitton’s Fall Campaign Featuring That Crazy Train Is Here!
Remember the Louis Vuitton Express? The one from LV’s fall 2012 show that was so incredibly elaborate that everyone cheered? Well, now no one can say Marc Jacobs‘ ideas aren’t as cost-conscious as they are fabulous — his $8 million locomotive is being reused in Louis Vuitton’s fall 2012 ad campaign. More of the images have been released, and boy, are they gorgeous.
The photos, shot by Steven Meisel, are set inside the LV Express, and feature 10 female models cast as travelers accompanied by four male models as porters, much like the Paris show. The girls wear long coats, rich colors, and dramatic hats, all in luxurious fabrics. The shots are meant to evoke the “distant … romantic glamour of travel,” Jacobs explains.
The LV Express will continue its opulent journey at a gala in Shanghai, according to WWD, so we personally won’t be seeing it in person anytime soon. You will be able track its progress on louisvuittonexpress.com when the train leaves Paris for China starting July 5. But for now, just check out the shots and let them take you away on a journey all your own.
