New Lucky Ads Say Shopping Will Mean One Less Lonely Girl

One of the most annoying lady stereotypes is the idea that all women love emotional shopping. (Just broke up with your boyfriend? Get a fancy new piece of bling. Got laid off from your job? Splurge on a new handbag!) And now that’s the whole idea behind Lucky‘s new #FillTheVoid ad campaign for its new e-commerce venture MyLucky.

MyLucky is the mag’s daily e-commerce pick, which can range from sale items to trendy pieces to vintage wares. To promote the new venture, Lucky is kicking off an ad campaign, the mag’s first in 12 years, to tap into every women’s inner lonely girl and turn them into a shopaholic. The ads were created by New York-based creative agency Partners & Spade, and wil appear in print and online ads, as well as on taxis starting August 17.

While we think the ads are cheeky, they perpetuate the stereotype that women shop to fill their needs, hence the #FillTheVoid slogan. We agree with HuffPost Style that Lucky could’ve used a slogan like “Treat Yourself”, which puts a more positive spin on the ad campaign. That said, anyone in the mood for a new pair of white pants?
